OUR DECLARATION OF FAITH
THE DOCTRINAL STATEMENT FOR FOUNTAIN OF CHRIST MINISTRY IS SUMMARIZED BY THE TRUTHS COMMUNICATED TO US IN AND THROUGH EPHESIANS 4:1-6.
The Bible ~ Word of God ~ We believe that the 66 books of the Bible are the Word of God, fully inspired (verbally and plenary) by God (Matthew4:4; II Timothy 3:16) and without error in the original manuscripts, written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit and that it has final authority in all matters of faith and conduct. God promises that He will preserve the words of scripture (Psalms 12: 6-7; Matthew 24:35) and has kept His promise by preserving His infallible words in the Received Text of the Hebrew (Masoretic text) and the Greek (Majority text) manuscripts. The Authorized King James Version is an accurate translation of the preserved words of God in the English language, is without error, for English speaking people. Likewise, Bibles that have been translated into other languages based on the Received of the Hebrew and Greek manuscripts are accurate.
One Body ~ We believe in this present dispensation of the grace of God there is only one church which is called the body of Christ. It consists of all those who are saved and it had its beginning with the salvation of the Apostle Paul (Romans 11:11, I Corinthians 12:13, 27; Ephesians 1:22-23, 3:1-11, 4:12; Colossians 1:18, 24-25; I Timothy 1:14-16.
One Spirit ~ We believe in the personality and deity of the One Holy Spirit who convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment. We believe that the Holy Spirit is coequal with the Father and the Son and convicts the world of sin through the Word. He baptizes believers into the body of Christ and He regenerates, seals, indwells, enlightens and empowers the believer. ( I Corinthians 2:10, 12, 6:19, 12:13; Ephesians 3:16, 4:30; Titus 3:5).
One Hope ~ We believe in the imminent, personal return of the Lord Jesus Christ to catch up the members of His body to be with Him forever is the "blessed hope" of the believer ( I Thessalonians 4:13-18; Titus 2:13). The body of Christ will not be on the earth during the time of Jacob's trouble, also known as the Tribulation (Romans 13:11; I Thessalonians4:13-16, 5:1-11; II Thessalonians 2:1-17).
One Lord - Jesus Christ ~ We believe in One Lord, Jesus Christ, God's only begotten Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He is true God and true man (Matthew 1:20-23; Romans 1:3; Philemon 2: 6-9). He suffered and died as the propitiation of God for sin (Romans 3:25) and three days later He rose bodily from the dead. We no longer "know" Him through the accounts of His earthly ministry but as the resurrected Head of the Church, which is His body (Romans 15:8; II Corinthians 5:16; Ephesians 1:20-23).
One Faith ~ We believe in the body of truth revealed by the Apostle Paul for us to believe, in this, the age of God's wonderful grace (Ephesians 3:2; Colossians 1:25). Sound doctrine for the age of grace was revealed to Paul. These sound words should be held onto by the saints and committed to faithful men who shall teach and others also ( II Timothy 1:13). In Galatians 1:11-12 and I Timothy 6:3, Paul states that his gospel was "by a revelation of Jesus Christ" and that his words are the words of the Lord Jesus Christ ( I Corinthians 14:37).
One Baptism ~ We believe that the Bible teaches of many baptisms, however, there is only on baptism recognized by the Word of God for this present dispensation of grace. That is the spiritual baptism by which the believer, when he/she trusts Christ as his/her Saviour, is identified with the Lord in His death, His burial, and His resurrection. This spiritual baptism is also the means whereby the believer is given victory over sin (Romans 6: 1-5; I Corinthians 12:13; Galatians 3: 27; Colossians 2: 11-12)
One God and Father of All ~ We believe that there is one living and true God and Father of all, an infinite/eternal and personal Spirit, Perfect in all attributes, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit (I Kings 8:60; Isaiah 45:18; John 8:19: II Corinthians 13:14) and that these three persons are equal in every divine perfection and that they execute distinct but harmonious offices in the work of creation, providence and redemption. We Believe in the Doctrine of the Holy Trinity relating to the Divine, Perfect, Triune God ( 1 x 1 x 1 = One).
The gospel of salvation for the penalty of sin ~ We believe that Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures as a representative and substitutionary sacrifice. All who believe in Him are justified on the basis of His shed blood (Romans 3:24-28, 5:8-9). People today are saved by grace through faith alone.
The lost, the unsaved, will suffer eternal damnation as payment for their sins (Romans 2:1-11, 6:23; Ephesians 5:6; I Timothy 1:16).
The Great Mission and Commission of the Church ~ We believe that in this present dispensation the mission and commission of the church is to disciple and proclaim the message of reconciliation ( II Corinthians 5:14-21) and to preach Jesus Christ according to the revelation of the mystery as first revealed to Apostle Paul (Romans 16:25; Ephesians 3:1-9; I Timothy 1:16). (We believe that our Lord Jesus Christ commanded all believers to proclaim the Gospel throughout the world and to disciple people of every nation. The fulfillment of that Great Commission requires that all worldly and personal ambitions be subordinated to a total commitment to Him who loved us and gave Himself for us.)
Prayer ~ We believe that prayer is us talking to God. We pray in the name or authority of the Lord Jesus Christ (Philemon 4:6-7; I Thessalonians 5:17). The purpose of prayer is to confirm our thoughts and actions to God's word through the work of the Spirit (Ephesians 3:14-21)
Satan ~ He is a living and personal devil (John 8:44; Ephesians 2:2; I Peter 5:8; Revelations 12:9). As God has changed His dealings with man, Satan adjusts his tactics to mimic what God is doing ( II Corinthians 11:13-15).
Man ~ We believe that all people are created by God in His image, for His pleasure and His glory.
Christian Conduct ~ We believe that spiritual growth is the natural expected result of receiving spiritual life.
The Last Things ~ We believe in the personal and visible return of the Lord Jesus Christ to earth.
Charismatic Movement ~ We believe that the current day Charismatic movement is
theologically incorrect.
The prophetic work and sign gifts of the Holy Spirit are not in operation today ( I Corinthians 12:1-31, 13:8-13) supernatural gifts (such as those listed in Romans 12:16-8, I Corinthians 12:8-10 and Ephesians 4:11) were in effect during the period covered by the book of Acts, during which time the Word of God had not yet been completed.
Once the revelation of the mystery was completed the inspired and inerrant Word of God is the final authority in all matters of faith and practice. Today, the functions of evangelism, pastoring (shepherding) and teaching are carried out by men who "labor in the word and doctrine" ( I Timothy 5:17)
Statement of Faith ~ The statement of faith does not exhaust the extent of our faith.
